Automotive Workforce Solutions
How Ōnin Staffing earned full-plant workforce responsibility at a major automotive manufacturer by showing up, learning the operation, and performing.
A major automotive manufacturing plant — one of the largest assembly operations in the region — depends on a consistent, high-volume workforce across multiple departments running simultaneous shifts. When its primary staffing vendor began to lose pace with growing demands, plant leadership needed a replacement it could trust with its full headcount, but it was not handing that trust over without seeing performance first.
The plant’s longtime staffing partner could not keep pace with growing demand. Ōnin was brought to prove we had what it took to deliver.
Ōnin’s first assignment was the Friday-Saturday shift: paper time sheets, no time clock, 60 people needed with unpredictable show rates and uncompetitive pay.
Other vendors had lost accounts across the market by trying to dictate terms. The plant wanted a partner that would listen and execute, not try to lower the stakes.
Ōnin leadership showed up every Friday until the Ōnin Onsite program was fully established.
Proven performance in the weekend shifts led to engine support, which then grew to managing the full plant.
Transitioned operations from paper time sheets to a digital time system and deployed a full embedded Onsite team.
Cultivated a relationship so robust that the plant’s COO communicates with Ōnin directly, six years in.
“The difference is they know everyone on the floor by name. When something changes, I'm not explaining the operation from scratch. They already know it.”
When a plant relies on just-in-time delivery, generic staffing isn't enough. We don't just fill seats; we integrate into the floor's operational reality. By moving from a weekend trial to a full-plant partnership, we proved that true workforce stability comes from being on the ground, learning the system, and treating the client's headcount goals as our own. We didn’t just replace a vendor; we became the internal engine that keeps the plant running.
